Horse Inn

New owners have taken the reins of the historic Horse Inn restaurant at 540 East Fulton Street. The restaurant has been known for decades for its off-the beaten-path, alley entrance and tenderloin tips on toast. The Horse Inn has a long history in Lancaster City dating back to the mid-1800s. In the 1920s the Shaub family converted the upstairs hayloft to a speakeasy where neighbors and friends could play shuffleboard and drink.

The new owners, Matt and Starla Russell, have embraced the history of the Horse Inn and made some upgrades as well, including a new entrance on Fulton Street, renovated bar and even brought back shuffleboard for its patrons.

The ever changing menu will focus on local ingredients utilizing local farmers and Central Market. The bar will include canned and draught beers, fresh squeezed juices, house made syrups and classic cocktails.
