February 9, 2022Celebrating Black History Month – Jerry Johnson

Jerry Johnson, a Lancaster native and graduate of JP McCaskey High School and Rider University, played professional basketball for 13 straight seasons until he retired in 2018. In 2019 became Athletic Director/Varsity Coach at La Academia Partnership Charter School. His job at La Academia is to lead a school’s newly established athletic program by building its sports infrastructure to help create opportunities for youth.

What Black History means to me?

“Remembering how important the forgotten African American cultures values are, in the shaping of the United States of America. The importance of what African Americans sacrificed while just wanting to be equal and free as humans.”
