Speaker Jim Bates Jim grew up near Asbury Park, NJ and remains an avid devotee of The Boss. He lives in Lancaster, is married, has five children and four grandchildren. A student of popular music, he has written blogs for The Row House on Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs as well as the Alatamont concert tragedy of 1969. He works in the Student Services & Admissions department at CCEF in Philadelphia and has advanced degrees in Christian theology and mission.
