February 5 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$50.00

« View All Events

This class is an art-making and creative writing experience designed for adults interested in learning techniques to connect with and nurture their ancestral roots. In addition to creation, students will engage in discussions about the significance of creatively archiving their ancestral stories and will also explore collective archiving practices that foster community-building opportunities through sharing circles.

Upon registration for this class, you will be asked to submit 1-2 digital photo images via a form that represent your ancestral stories. Following a brief discussion on archiving techniques, you will share the photos you plan to incorporate into your work. The creative process will begin with you drafting a remembrance verse dedicated to your ancestry, which will be integrated into your small-art piece.

Upon completion of the class, you will leave with 1-2 small-art pieces employing techniques covered during the demonstrations, as well as a deeper appreciation of the importance of personal ancestral archives and remembrance rituals.
