First Reformed Church will host “Abundant Blessings” a 30 minute concert of sacred music on First Friday, October 1, 2021 at 8:00 pm featuring resident organist Larry Hershey at the console of the mighty vintage 1958 analog Allen organ. The concert will be held in the historic1854 First Reformed Church, 40 E Orange Street in downtown Lancaster.
Larry will be joined by guest pianist, Debbie Botham in a Joel Raney suite for piano and organ on the tune “Kum Ba Yah”, and a duet transcription of “The Heavens Are Telling” from the Creation by Franz Josef Haydn.
The program also includes Virgil Fox’s arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s choral prelude, “Now Thank We All Our God.”
This series of free concerts is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to hear 30 minutes of classical music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.
