Organist Larry Hershey will play a 30 minute concert “For All The Saints” at 8 PM on First Friday, November 3, 2023 on the mighty 1958 analog Allen organ at First Reformed Church located at 40 East Orange Street. Selections include a Charles Callahan work entitled “O Day of Peace” based on the familiar tune, Jerusalem, by British composer C. Hubert Parry; Leo Sowerby’s “Prelude on ‘Sine Nomine’”; and “Sarabande on ‘Land of Rest’” by Gerald Near. The program will conclude with the Virgil Fox arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Now Thank We All Our God” from Cantata 79. Mr. Fox played this piece on this organ at its dedication in 1958.

This series of free 30 minute concerts is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to hear 30 minutes of inspiring organ music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.
