DESCRIPTION:Please join us as we present an evening of poetry with four distinct voices. The exciting lineup features Lancaster poets Arlene Geller\, Lisa Munson\, Le Hinton\, and current Lancaster Poet Laureate Dana Kinsey! Learn more about our poets below. Registration is helpful\, but walk-ins are always welcome! Poet/lyricist Arlene (Arlo) Geller has been fascinated with words from a young age. Two poetry collections\, The Earth Claims Her and Hear Her Voice\, were published in 2023. Her poetry has also appeared in Tiny Seed Journal\, Tiferet Journal\, White Enso\, and other literary journals and anthologies. Lisa J. Munson is a prize-winning poet and co-editor of the poetry journal Fledgling Rag (pub. Iris G. Press). Her poem “the next storm” received an Honorable Mention in the 2024 PA Poetry Society’s (PPS) 75th Anniversary Ars Poetica Poetry Competition. Le Hinton is the author of seven poetry collections including Elegies for an Empire (Iris G. Press\, 2023). His work has been widely published and can be found in The Best American Poetry 2014\, Pleiades\, the Baltimore Review\, Pittsburgh Poetry Review\, the Summerset Review\, and outside Penn Medicine Park\, incorporated into Derek Parker’s sculpture Common Thread. Dana Kinsey\, Lancaster City Poet Laureate\, is a spoken word artist\, actor\, director\, teacher\, and freelance writer. Her work is published in Fledgling Rag\, SWWIM\, SoFloPoJo\, ONE ART\, The Champagne Room\, Anti-Heroin Chic\, Wild Roof Journal\, Equinox\, Drunk Monkeys\, The Ravens Perch\, Passengers\, and more.

In this interactive author talk\, Suzette will share why she chose to leave her safe comfortable life\, what she’s learned about the costs – and the joys – of living authentically\, and why she believes it’s never too late to write a new story for yourself. DESCRIPTION:Lancaster Public Library’s Earth Day Extravaganza is an interactive event that invites community members of all ages to learn about environmental issues and solutions in a family-friendly atmosphere.\nThe event will feature exhibits\, presentations\, storytimes\, a plant swap\, and even a pop-up produce stand! Families with children of all ages will be inspired and motivated with ways to welcome environmental-sustainability practices into their daily lives. \nSCHEDULE \n♻ 10AM-2PM: Children’s Craft Table\nChildren will color the inside bottom of an egg crate. This becomes a Nature Scavenger Hunt with children finding different natural objects that match the colors in the egg crate. \n♻ 10AM-2PM: Young Adult/Adult Craft Table\nUpcycle old books by decorating a page. \n♻ 10AM-2PM: Plant Swap\nBring a plant\, take a plant! \n ♻10AM-12PM: Pop-Up Produce Stand\nThe Junior League of Lancaster will distribute complimentary fresh produce to attendees. This initiative is in partnership with American Heart Association\, ensuring every community member has access to nutritious food across Lancaster.  \n♻ 10:30AM: Storytime with PennState Master Gardeners \n♻ 11-11:30AM: Wildflowers in your Landscape\nLancaster Conservancy tells us how to incorporate native wildflowers into a personal garden. \n♻ 11:30AM: Songs and Stories of Conservation\nPresented by Matthew Dodd \n♻ 12:30-1PM: Where to Go Outside\nLancaster Conservancy outlines the best and most beautiful hiking trails throughout Lancaster County.  \n♻ 1PM: Storytime with PennState Master Gardeners \nAll events at the Earth Day Extravaganza are free and open to the public.
