You’re invited! Bring your friends and family and join us for a concert with…
Lakou Mizik – A multigenerational collective of Haitian musicians formed in the aftermath of the devastating 2010 earthquake, Lakou Mizik includes elder legends and rising young talents united in a mission to honor the healing spirit of their culture and to communicate a message of pride, strength and hope to their countrymen and the world. The band has collaborated with acts as diverse as The Arcade Fire, Trombone Shorty, Tank and the Bangas and Preservation Hall Jazz band.
“We’re so excited to be working with WXPN and Music for Everyone to bring Lakou Mizik to Lancaster in honor of World Refugee Day and immigrant heritage month. Thousands of new neighbors from all over the world, including Haiti, have come to call Lancaster home. Lakou Mizik’s music and their mission to educate our community on Haiti’s culture and indomitable spirit really embodies the strength and beauty of new neighbors who build new lives in peace and hope here” said Valentina Ross, CWS South Central PA Director.
