March 5, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Join us on Friday March 5 from 7-8 PM for our Virtual First Friday Art show entitled “What Now?” featuring artist Jazmine Gabriel.
Jazmine Gabriel lives and paints in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Originally trained as a philosopher, she now splits her time between work in cancer genetics, painting, and playing with her 3-year- old. Her paintings explore form and formlessness through the layering of lines.
Jazmine says this about the show and her work, “Making art in so fractured a time as this feels daunting. In a world where each decision has too many repercussions and the absence of action is positively harmful, the blank canvas offers a space to follow the accumulation of small actions in paint, one mark at a time. I will share paintings that explore the layering of lines and textures, like the build up of geological strata, with the theme of emerging forms and disintegrating reflections. Or, more simply, I will share how I play with lines of paint and ideas about mismatched reflections.”
During the virtual art show there will be a chance to view a slideshow of Jazmine’s work, a time where Jazmine shares about each piece of art, and a time for questions and answers.
