To Give Rise To | Community Room on King

Join us on Friday May 7 from 6-9 PM for the last art show at the Community Room on King which is entitled To Give Rise To.

Initially, Alison Elizabeth Keener was inspired to curate an art show that explored and documented the diverse paths one takes to be a mother, while also raising support for mothers of the Milagro House. The first and second iteration of this group exhibit was in 2019. Then came 2020. Being a mother during a pandemic was mundane, but also extremely taxing and unhealthily imbalanced as we took on more roles than are humanly possible. In the same respect, there were moments of immense joy in the forced extended time with our families. The works in this show cover this duality and depict many other aspects of motherhood with the intention of nourishing these artist/mamas creative spirits.
We invite you to also pick up a Mother’s Day card ($5/each) with images from the first and current shows. 100% of the proceeds from the cards will be donated to the Milagro House. Our COVID procedures for this event include:
1. Masks are REQUIRED for this event.
2. No more than 30 people will be allowed in the space at one time.
3. Hand Sanitizer is available at the front of the space.
4. There will be no food or drinks provided.
5. We have an air purifier that will run throughout the event.
