‘Nature Magnified’ Art Exhibition and Open Reception

Solo exhibition of Lancaster County international artist, Melissa S. Zane’s paintings. Art Exhibition, open reception, and artist meet and greet at David Lyall Home & Design showroom, on Lancaster First Friday, May 5, 2023, 5-8 pm.
NATURE MAGNIFIED is a collection of large-scale acrylic paintings highlighting individual aspects of the natural world. The works in this series enhance the design elements that make up their larger wholes through the exploration of color, texture, and light. Each piece takes on a life of its own from inception to unanticipated outcomes. As a result, the work depicts my “interpretation” of natural beauty.

Apart from highlighting the obvious, the sheer size of the subject matter forces the viewer to dive deeper. Color guides the eye to seek harmony and repetition or to examine design beyond color. Texture adds a sense of depth and complexity through high-relief ornamentation, pattern details, and my own organic style. Through the incorporation of metallic paint colors, light transforms what the viewer sees from different angles and during different times of day under natural or artificial light.

Overall, the series invites the viewer to take a fascinating journey of exploration beyond the obvious to amplify the appreciation for nature and all the tiny natural elements that surround us.
