‘My Lancaster’ Community Art Workshop – The House that Built Me: Collage and Mixed Media
June 19, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Free
Join us for a special group of workshops throughout the month of June, ‘My Lancaster’, hosted by the Crispus Attucks Community Center! Charles Demuth often painted scenes of Lancaster city, reflecting his surroundings and the architecture of his everyday life in Lancaster. Create art that depicts the buildings and structures that are the backdrop of YOUR everyday life! All art pieces created in these workshops will be photographed for inclusion in a slideshow within the Smokestacks and Skyscrapers: Modern Moments from the 20th Century exhibit. Be sure to visit the Demuth Museum before July 25 to view the show!
The House that Built Me: Collage and Mixed Media
Age Group: Elementary
Instructor: Nichole Madonna, PCA&D Center for Creative Exploration
Places have a way of becoming more than a location. They provide a gathering space for people and experiences that we hold in our heart. In this workshop, we will explore collage and mixed-media using brightly colored tissue paper pieces and markers to create a representation of our home or very special location. We will talk about collage and layering as well as how Charles Demuth used perspective and composition to create the most visually interesting images.
Workshops are free, but pre-registration is required. Visit demuth.org or call 717.299.9940 for registration.
