First Friday with PGC Member Artist Ilene Schenkel

Meet glass artist Ilene Schenkel as part of First Friday at the PGC Guild Store!
For over 15 years, Schenkel has been creating one-of-a-kind glass beads by melting rods of glass with a propane/oxygen torch and winding the molten material around a steel rod called a mandrel. The variety of glass rod colors, the chemistry that causes incredible reactions between the various colors/types of glass, and her own hand in the process keep her fascinated with her chosen medium.
