Join on us Thursday December 5 for a Pop Up Art Show entitled All Hands On featuring the collaborative work of PCA&D Students and Friendship Heart Gallery. In late October, the Directions in Contemporary Art class at Pennsylvania College of Art and Design (PCA&D) and the artists of Lancaster’s Friendship Heart Gallery embarked on a fully collaborative project. The project, which paired eleven groups of two artists, one from each institution, was centered around a series of creative directions that would dictate what each artist would do to their artwork and what medium they would use. Each step of the process was timed and once the steps were completed the artists would pass their work to another group. The project resulted in eleven unique artworks that were manipulated by each artist who was present. The works feature marks made in four mediums: colored pencil, collage, ink and graphite sticks. The concept of this project was steered by Brittany Baksa of Friendship Heart Gallery and Henry Gepfer of PCA&D who worked closely with the students of the Directions in Contemporary Art class to develop the structure and scope of the project. The objectives of this project are to foster collaboration and celebrate shared capabilities. Come out and see the great collaborative art during this one night pop up art show.
