Get in the LOOP August 1, 2014June 3, 2015 By Amber Strazzo In November 2012, the Mayor’s Office of Special Events (MOOSE) merged with a local arts advocacy organization called LancasterARTS. After about a year and a half of strategic planning on how to best merge the two organizations, it became clear that there is a need for one organization to market the City as a visitor destination. With that – we are excited to announce the formation of the City of Lancaster Office of Promotion (LOOP). Our office will continue to produce special events like First Friday, Music Friday, Celebrate Lancaster, Red Rose Run and the Holidays. We will also continue to coordinate City services for events and manage the permitting process for the use of public space. Building on that, we will begin to market the City to visitors locally and regionally and manage visitor experiences for our guests – this includes developing this new visitor web site, a new visitor’s guide for the City and, starting in 2015, managing the Visitor Center located in Penn Square. And we’re moving… to the 3rd floor of Old City Hall in Penn Square. The move will take place the week of August 18th. Starting then, those wanting to use public space or hold a block party should come to the new office for permits. Until further notice, our hours will be the same as the Visitor Center – Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. Our phone number and email addresses will remain the same. Please take a moment to watch this video, which gives you a better of the evolution of MOOSE to LOOP. I also ask that you take some time to explore this new web site! We are excited for the future of our organization and look forward to expanding our role to promote the City of Lancaster as the spectacular destination we know and love.
